About Reiki

A Reiki Practitioner channels universal energy travelling down their crown chakra through their hands into the receiver using light touch or just above the body. Reiki is a non-invasive way to promote healing, relaxation and help remove blockages from one’s energetic body to promote holistic health and wellbeing treating the whole person; body, mind, emotions, and spirit as opposed to treating a symptom a person may be suffering and empowers us to bring harmony and balance into our life.

Dr Mikao Usui discovered Reiki during a 21-day fast and meditation retreat on Mount Kurama, Japan in 1922. During the retreat he experienced a deep spiritual awakening where light entered the top of his head and receiving attunement. From there he developed Reiki after treating himself, family and attuning further students to Reiki.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words which translate to “Universal life force energy.” Reiki is passed from Master to student through a series of attunements at different levels of the Reiki journey. Reiki helps practitioners on their spiritual and enlightenment journey allowing them to tap into this beautiful life force energy to seek healing and empowerment on their journey and helping those who seek Reiki treatments.

There are many benefits in receiving Reiki treatments; many brought about by Reiki’s ability to promote relaxation of the body. When we are relaxed, our body is able to focus on its natural healing capabilities which can boost immune function, cell turnover and repair. Reiki also helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression due to it’s ability to help improve clarity in thinking, our emotions and control over these functions. Each person is unique and we all have different matters to overcome, some that may have been with us for many years. Reiki can help release these energy blockages and bring harmony and balance to aspects of our life holistically. When we are empowered to accept responsibility in our healing journey, we commit to improving our overall health and wellbeing to seek our ultimate healthspan.

If it’s your first visit; there will be intake and waiver forms for completion. We will thoroughly discuss your health history, current concerns, medications, and treatment ideals. We will also discuss your preferences; such as personal boundaries, calm music, quietness and lighting during the treatment. If you are a returning Client we will check for any health updates since last visit, before moving ahead with the Reiki treatment.

You will remain fully clothed and begin the treatment by lying on your back. The Practitioner connects to Reiki and will place their hands on or just above your body in sequences of hand positions over the entire body, each lasting 3-10 minutes depending on treatment length. Reiki will travel to where it is needed, guided by beautiful universal energy flow. During treatment, you may feel warmth or cold, tingling or twitching sensations, fall asleep, emotions such as laughing, crying or you may feel absolutely nothing.

Some recommendations to consider before Reiki Treatment

  • Wearing comfortable clothing is advised – you will remain fully clothed throughout the entire treatment and may like to take off shoes or restrictive jewellery to be more comfortable
  • Avoid eating a large meal about two hours prior – you will be lying face-down for about half the treatment which can be uncomfortable with a full stomach and digestion can disrupt the effectiveness of Reiki
  • Keep well hydrated by drinking water before your appointment – proper hydration helps energy flow and the body’s detoxification ability
  • Avoid excessive caffeine or alcohol – this can reduce the effectiveness of Reiki and hinder the body’s capacity to enter a relaxed state

At the end of your Reiki treatment you may experience some lightheadedness or a range of emotions. You will take your time to ground yourself before rising from the table.

Recommendations to follow after Reiki Treatment:

  • Reiki is generally considered safe, some individuals may experience mild side effects such as emotional release – crying or feeling sad or detoxification experiences – mild headache, flu-like symptoms or fatigue. These are generally due to release of energy blockages, stress or suppressed emotions and should be temporary
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid excessive caffeine or alcohol after your Reiki treatment to help energy flow and the body’s detoxification ability
  • Take time out to relax and to focus on yourself, releasing of blockages can identify areas of your life that physically require extra care and dedication

Any symptoms experienced after your Reiki treatment lasting more than 48 hours should be reported to Kimberly Jade, so this can be monitored and any modifications to your Reiki schedule can be made.

If you have any serious health conditions your GP/Specialists should be informed you are receiving Reiki so they are fully aware of your all your treatments, if you are unsure please contact Kimberly Jade to discuss:

  • Experiencing fever – Receiving Reiki is not generally recommended
  • Do not stop any medical treatments or prescribed medications when receiving Reiki treatments; Reiki works complementary to your holistic health and wellbeing interventions
  • Long-term conditions may require a longer commitment to Reiki to see progress, these are dependent on the individuality of the receiver and their circumstances
